Dreaming Together

(This post is the first in what will hopefully be a regular series designed to help foster dialogue, relationships and understanding between the youth at Hope and the adults in our congregation)
For a 15 year old and a 65 year old, it can be difficult to find common ground. Different age groups dress differently, talk differently, listen to different music, worry about different things and the list goes on. To start off this series, however, I thought it would be good if we could all find some common ground. If you’re reading this post, you must have a reason to have visited this website and if you visited this website, you must (at some level) care about the people and/or ministry of Hope Lutheran Church. So here are some questions to get us talking. (Feel free to answer any or all)
- Why is Hope Lutheran important to you?
- Our congregation’s mission is “Extending Hope in Jesus.” When have you seen us do this well?
- Our church is in a time of transition. What about our future gets you excited? or what are you looking forward to?
It’s as we talk to other and share with each other our stories, our hopes and our dreams that we will gain understanding from which to pave our road together to a future that’s exciting and bright for all the people of God. May God bless our efforts.

Hope Lutheran is important to me because everyone there is like a family to me. Everyone is so loving and cares so much about the youth and what is going on with us. I have seen the congregation “Extend Hope in Jesus” through the Food Pantry, Mission Trips, and VBS as well as other community activities. Youth Group included. Something in the future that I am looking forward to is getting a new pastor and getting to know him and connect with him on different levels, as well as talking to him about his walk with Christ.

Hope Lutheran Church is important to me because it keeps me going throughout the week and I feel very close with everyone here. When we are outside doing fundraisers at church, it always seems that there are a couple people that tell us how much they appreciate us and how willing they are to support us, and even those that don’t show it. I think this is cool because it just makes us closer. I have seen our congregation “Extending Hope in Jesus” through mission trips, Vacation Bible School, and the Food Pantry. I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know our new pastor.

Hope Lutheran is important to me and a lot of people, but Hope Lutheran is just a building I mean Honestly do you think a Building could take the love that Jesus has given to us we could change the name to Holy House of Jesus Loving People or something crazy it wouldn’t change a thing when people think of church they think of the building, when really all it is the people around you honestly if one person was to leave our church the church would change dramatically even if it was a small family of three everything would be different than it was. But we are adding a big role in the church a new pastor who with no doubt will lead us to new heights. I think that just by wearing a christian t-shirt you make the tinniest difference because chances are somebody will see that shirt and make a connection but talking to my friends about my faith that is something I’ve never done and right in time because high school it’s easy for kids to misbehave or get in with the wrong crowd so the more open you are about your religoin the better chance it will affect someone else.
Sorry if i confuse someone with this lengthy blog.
