Extending Hope - What’s your role?

Date September 28, 2009

Like I mentioned yesterday from the pulpit, I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve here at Hope and work among so many terrific people.

The sermon message yesterday was from the 3rd chapter of ACTS as we continue our sermon series through this significant historical account of the growth of the early church following Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension.  If you missed the sermon yesterday or you need a review, you can read the sermon HERE.  In the sermon I talked about the importance of actively entering into the biblical narrative - placing ourselves within the story.  I tried to guide us through a series of snapshots of the figures in the story as they interacted and responded to each other and to their circumstances.  Which of the people or scenarios did you find yourself identifying with?  Perhaps if we take the time to share and to grow, we can become the people we want to be, the people God wants us to be, the church God’s calling us to be.

Don’t forget - there’s much going on at Hope currently.  This Wednesday evening we will have a semi-annual meeting in the community center.  This meeting is important because at the meeting, the members of the congregation will elect the next class of leaders to serve on the Church Council.  The Nominating Committee has provided a strong slate of names and you can read more about them HERE as you consider your decision and vote.  Our youth ministry is excited that Alyssa Walker, one of our youth, has allowed her name to be placed into nomination.  Her presence on the church council would give a strong voice to the concerns and views of the youth of our congregation.  Please make this meeting a priority for your schedule and plan to attend.  Blessings to you all,
